History of Rath Dothulu Flower

Rath Dothulu (Loxococcus rupicola) flower is also known as "Ran Dothalu" and "Rath Dothalu". It is a rare endemic palm confine to the south-western rain forests from lowlands to hills (300 to 1500m a.s.l.). It can be found as small populations on shady rocky outcrops near streams. Seeds use as a substitute for Betel-nut palm for mastication with betel. This palm recently become a popular ornamental plant and despite the fact that it is protected under the law, illegal over exploitation widely practices and hence become an endangered plant. The extremely powerful second blast resulted in at least 157 deaths, 5,000 injuries, US$10–15 billion in property damage and an estimated 300,000 people made homeless. The blast was linked to about 2,750 tonnes (3,030 short tons) of ammonium nitrate—equivalent to around 1,155 tonnes of TNT (4,830 gigajoules)—that had been confiscated by the Lebanese government from the abandoned ship MV Rhosus and stored in the port without proper safety measures for six years.
